The site is located within an urban area and the school was designed to flow with the neighborhood surroundings. This building is set into a sharply sloping site to accommodate the site and minimize visual impact on the neighborhood. Grades can be separated by floor, but school can also be scheduled by periods or subject so that all grades can mix if desired. The project is highly responsive to their band and vocal music departments. The cafeteria is structured to provide for athletic practice as well as concerts. The building includes a high school-sized gym, baseball field, two softball fields, middle school soccer and football fields, and HS/MS band practice areas. The facility occupies the southern portion of the campus that it shares with the high school. The western part of site has a protected stream that we incorporated into the science program. The new building also integrates stone decoration from the old middle school in its detail.
