About Us

WHO WE ARE

Feinknopf Macioce Schappa Architects is a full service architectural, interior design, and planning firm located in Columbus, Ohio. With more than 80 years of continuous design service, our longevity is a testament to the firm’s capabilities and adaptability. We are proud to have developed multiple long-term client relationships through the years with such clients as the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Department of Administrative Services, Capital University, The Ohio State University, Ohio University, multiple K-12 school districts, Huntington Bank, Red Roof Inn, and Panera Bread.

THE BEGINNING

In 1928, Mark D. Feinknopf started his own design build firm. Early on, projects included many of the nicest homes and businesses in Bexley, Ohio. Upon graduation from Harvard, his son, Mark G. Feinknopf joined his father in the family business. As business grew, Mark G. recruited fellow Harvard classmate, Joe Schappa  and a fellow OSU instructor, Andrew Macioce to join the growing design firm. Around 1980, Mark D. retired and handed over control of the firm. Following this change to a partnership, we incorporated as Feinknopf Macioce Schappa Architects in 1989.

WHAT WE DO

Since the firm’s inception, our core business has included both higher education, K-12, retail, hospitality and office facilities. Our architects are licensed in 49 states and parts of Canada. Our expertise includes new facilities, renovations and additions. Our services include building forensics, historical restoration, sustainable design, and ADA compliance. We have six LEED Accredited Professionals on staff that have successfully attained LEED Silver or higher certification for their projects.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The architect must be an innovator, a pragmatist, a manager, and a facilitator who works creatively and constructively within a complex team, as new environments are created.
